I’m a proud husband and dad to two amazing adult kids. Over the years, I’ve coached youth sports and now enjoy mentoring young lawyers honing their trial advocacy skills. Sharing success tips—gleaned from both wins and missteps—has always been a passion of mine.

After decades of practicing law, running businesses, and working with startups, I’ve noticed patterns—simple, effective principles that top performers use to thrive. That’s why I wrote Power Moves (and a few other books), packed with actionable insights to help adults level up in their careers and lives.

But here’s the question that hit me during holiday conversations with family: Why stop with adults?

What if kids had access to the same tools—tools tailored to their world? That’s the spark behind this book.

It’s packed with stories kids can relate to, learn from, and use. These aren’t just “nice ideas.” They’re proven strategies for building connections, navigating challenges, and stepping into life with confidence.

The best part? This book and related resources are all free. Whether you prefer to read or listen, the stories and lessons are available anytime on your phone, tablet, or computer. Each chapter even includes an audio link to the chapter.

This is my way of giving back. If it resonates, pass it on to another family member or friend. Because when we equip kids early, we’re building a brighter future for all of us.

Start reading—or hit play—and help your little hero make their first power move today.

**Chapter 1: Penny and the Zigzag Path (taking action)**

![mitchjacksonesq_Colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_644e4432-2754-40f4-be5d-bfc4ba513b0f_1.png](https://mitchjackson.xyz/u/mitchjacksonesq_colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_644e4432-2754-40f4-be5d-bfc4ba513b0f_1-3o1emh.png)

Once upon a time in the bustling town of Brightville, there lived a curious little squirrel named Penny. Penny had the biggest dream in all the forest—to build a magical acorn bakery where every animal could enjoy her special “Nutty Cupcakes.”

But there was a tiny problem. Penny loved making plans so much that she never actually started. Her treehouse was bursting with notes, drawings, recipes, and charts, but the bakery? Nowhere to be seen.

One sunny morning, Penny’s best friend, Max the mouse, scampered over. “What are you waiting for, Penny? Let’s get started!”

“But it’s not perfect yet!” Penny said, pointing to a pile of scribbles. “I’m still figuring out where the cupcake oven should go!”

Max grinned. “You can’t bake cupcakes without an oven, and you can’t build a bakery if you never start! Let’s just take the first step and see what happens.”

Penny thought for a moment. “Okay, but what if we mess up?”

Max chuckled. “Mess-ups aren’t the end—they’re just pit stops! We’ll fix things as we go.”

So Penny took a deep breath, grabbed her favorite hammer, and started building. First, she built the walls (a little crooked, but Max helped fix them). Then came the windows (one too small, but they made it a cute mouse-sized one). Step by step, Penny and Max laughed, stumbled, and figured it out together.

By the end of the week, Penny’s acorn bakery stood proudly under the tallest oak tree. The animals of Brightville lined up for her delicious Nutty Cupcakes, and Penny couldn’t stop smiling.

“You know what, Max?” Penny said, wiping her paws. “Starting wasn’t as scary as I thought. Every little zigzag made my dream come true.”

Max winked. “See? The best paths aren’t straight—they’re full of twists, turns, and tasty surprises.”

From that day on, Penny always remembered: Dreams aren’t made by waiting for perfection—they’re built step by step, one little zigzag at a time.

So let me ask you a question. What have you been thinking about doing? What’s been holding you back?

Here’s an idea.

Why not be like Penny the squirrel and get started zigzagging today?

**Chapter 2: Bobby and the Magic of Listening (power of listening)**

![mitchjacksonesq_Colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_c958458c-0b10-4018-89c0-34f0b53e3a8d_0.png](https://mitchjackson.xyz/u/mitchjacksonesq_colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_c958458c-0b10-4018-89c0-34f0b53e3a8d_0-gDM08d.png)

Once upon a time, in the bustling town of Chatterville, lived a curious little boy named Bobby. Bobby loved to talk—about his favorite books, his adventures, and even the funny shapes he found in the clouds. But there was one thing Bobby wasn’t so great at: listening.

One sunny afternoon, Bobby’s best friend, Mia, came over with exciting news. “Guess what, Bobby! I found—”

“Oh! Let me tell you about the giant dragon I saw in my dream last night!” Bobby interrupted, waving his arms wildly.

Mia frowned. “But Bobby, I wanted to—”

“Wait, Mia! Look at this cool rock I found!” Bobby blurted, completely missing Mia’s downcast face.

That evening, Bobby’s Grandpa Joe called him over for a chat. Grandpa Joe was the wisest person in Chatterville and always had a twinkle in his eye. “Bobby,” he said gently, “did you notice Mia looked a little sad today?”

Bobby tilted his head. “She did? But why? I was telling her so many fun things!”

Grandpa Joe chuckled. “Ah, Bobby, talking is wonderful, but listening is like finding a hidden treasure. When you really listen, you discover stories and feelings you didn’t know were there. Do you want to learn the magic of listening?”

Bobby’s eyes lit up. “Magic? Yes, please!”

Grandpa Joe leaned in close. “Here’s the secret: First, stop and look at the person talking—show them they matter. Next, stay quiet and listen to every word, like it’s the most important secret in the world. And if you’re not sure, repeat what they said, like this: ‘Did you mean you found a treasure chest?’”

Bobby giggled. “That sounds fun!”

The next day, Bobby tried out his new magic. When Mia ran up to him, he stopped, looked her in the eyes, and said, “What’s up, Mia?”

Mia beamed. “Bobby, I found a baby bird in my backyard! I named it Pip!”

Instead of interrupting, Bobby stayed quiet and listened. Then he said, “Wow, you found a baby bird? That’s amazing! What does Pip look like?”

Mia grinned from ear to ear and told Bobby all about her tiny, fluffy friend. Bobby felt warm inside—Mia’s happiness was even better than telling his own stories.

From that day on, Bobby discovered that listening was its own kind of adventure. He learned about Mia’s bird, his teacher’s favorite flower, and even Grandpa Joe’s silly childhood mishaps. Bobby’s friends loved talking to him because they knew he truly cared.

And you know what? Bobby became the best treasure hunter in Chatterville, finding stories and friendships everywhere he went.

He'll always remember the lesson his grandpa taught him- Listening is like discovering a hidden treasure—it brings you closer to others and fills your heart with wonder!

**Chapter 3: Ollie Owl’s Helpful Hoots (giving advice)**

![mitchjacksonesq_Colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_d4ed3b39-e6f7-4f04-8e82-35fc4aea3e53_1.png](https://mitchjackson.xyz/u/mitchjacksonesq_colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_d4ed3b39-e6f7-4f04-8e82-35fc4aea3e53_1-76DekH.png)

In the heart of Whimsy Woods, Ollie Owl was known for being the wisest creature around. Animals would come from far and wide to seek his advice. But one day, something curious happened, and it all started with Mia Mouse.

Mia scurried up to Ollie’s tree. “Ollie, Ollie, I need your advice!” she squeaked. “I can’t decide if I should plant daisies or sunflowers in my garden. What do you think?”

Ollie fluffed his feathers and thought carefully. “Sunflowers grow tall and bright, but daisies are cozy and cheerful. Which makes your heart happiest, Mia?”

Mia nodded. “Sunflowers, of course!” she said, scampered off, and planted… daisies.

The next week, Sammy Squirrel came by. “Ollie, should I store my acorns in the hollow log or the old oak?” he chattered nervously. Ollie pondered again. “The oak is strong and safe, but the log is easier to reach. Which feels right to you, Sammy?”

Sammy thanked him, then put all his acorns in a bush!

Ollie scratched his head. “Something strange is going on,” he muttered.

That evening, Luna Ladybug fluttered over. “Ollie, do you feel sad when no one listens to your advice?”

Ollie blinked. “Well, maybe just a little. It feels like building a bridge that no one crosses. But maybe it’s because they already know their answer—they just need to hear it out loud.”

Luna grinned. “Exactly! They don’t need directions; they need courage. Your advice is like a lantern—it lights up their own path.”

The next morning, Ollie gathered all the animals. “Friends, let’s make a deal! When you ask for advice, be clear: do you need a suggestion or just someone to listen?”

“And,” added Mia, “if we don’t follow the advice, we’ll explain why. That way, Ollie knows we still value his help!”

From that day on, the Advice Dance in Whimsy Woods became a joyful tune of trust and understanding.

So what did we learn from this story? Well, asking for advice is about building trust, and giving advice is about lighting the way—not leading the steps. Together, it’s a beautiful dance and a real hoot!

**Chapter 4: Pippa and the Magic Thank-You Spark (saying "thank you")**

![mitchjacksonesq_Colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_cea05d65-7ccb-4f0e-89b9-a8411e983e5b_2.png](https://mitchjackson.xyz/u/mitchjacksonesq_colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_cea05d65-7ccb-4f0e-89b9-a8411e983e5b_2-2EJUfJ.png)

Once upon a time, in the tiny, bustling town of Brightville, there lived a curious little girl named Pippa. Pippa loved to explore and solve mysteries, but she often got so busy she forgot something very important: saying “thank you.”

One sunny morning, Pippa’s favorite treehouse was covered in twinkling lights. But who put them there? She ran to her friend Benny, the bear who fixed things around town. “Did you hang those lights?” she asked.

Benny blushed. “I thought they might make your adventures brighter.”

“Wow, thanks, Benny!” said Pippa, her eyes wide. At that moment, a tiny, shimmering spark floated into the air.

The spark danced around them, glowing brighter. “It’s a Thank-You Spark!” Benny explained. “Whenever someone truly feels appreciated, it spreads magic!”

Pippa was amazed. “What happens if we share more thank-yous?”

Benny grinned. “Let’s find out!”

And so, Pippa and Benny roamed Brightville, noticing all the little things others did. Pippa thanked Molly the Mole for keeping the garden so neat, and Molly’s Thank-You Spark made the flowers bloom brighter. Benny thanked Ellie the Owl for her wise advice, and her Spark lit up the sky with stars.

Soon, everyone in Brightville was sharing thank-yous. The town buzzed with happy energy, and people worked together like never before.

Pippa learned that appreciation was like planting seeds of magic—it made people feel warm and special, and it brought them closer. From that day on, Pippa made a habit of saying “thank you,” and the Thank-You Sparks never stopped spreading their magic.

What Pippa will always remember is that noticing and appreciating others creates magic that makes the whole world brighter.

**Chapter 5: Sammy the Seagull and the Power of Persistence (never giving up)**

![mitchjacksonesq_Colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_a085536e-7a34-45c5-a80c-ec7a3e69001f_1.png](https://mitchjackson.xyz/u/mitchjacksonesq_colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_a085536e-7a34-45c5-a80c-ec7a3e69001f_1-JMBn17.png)

High above the sparkling sea, Sammy the Seagull dreamed of doing something no seagull had ever done before: flying across the Great Windy Ocean. It was a daring idea! The other seagulls said it couldn’t be done.

“Why bother, Sammy?” squawked Pete, the biggest seagull in the flock. “The wind is too wild, and the waves are too high. It’s impossible!”

But Sammy didn’t believe in “impossible.” She believed in persistence—keeping at something, even when it got hard. “If I keep trying and make little changes along the way, I can figure it out,” Sammy chirped confidently.

The next morning, Sammy stretched her wings and leapt into the sky. The breeze carried her gently at first, but soon, the fierce ocean winds began to push her back.

“WHOOSH!” A big gust spun Sammy in a circle. She flapped hard, but it felt like she wasn’t going anywhere. Exhausted, she returned to shore.

As Sammy rested, she thought about what went wrong. “Flapping harder didn’t work,” she murmured. “What if I try something different?”

The next day, Sammy tried again, but this time she watched the waves. She noticed how they rose and fell in a steady rhythm.

“Maybe if I fly with the wind instead of against it, I’ll go farther,” she said. So Sammy adjusted her wings and glided with the gusts. It worked—she flew farther than before!

But soon, the wind changed again, and Sammy found herself struggling. Back to shore she went.

“I’ll break this into smaller steps,” Sammy decided. “I’ll focus on reaching one floating log at a time.” Each day, Sammy set a tiny goal—a rock, a buoy, a log—and celebrated when she reached it. Every try taught her something new, and she made little changes along the way.

Flap, glide, rest, repeat. Sammy stuck with her plan, learning more each time she soared into the sky.

One bright morning, Sammy noticed something amazing: the waves were behind her, pushing her forward. “The wind is helping me!” she cheered. Sammy flapped her wings one last time and crossed the Great Windy Ocean, landing on a sandy beach on the other side.

“I did it!” she squawked, her chest puffed with pride. “I didn’t give up, and I learned how to work with the wind instead of against it!”

Back home, the other seagulls were amazed. “How did you do it?” asked Pete.

“I didn’t try to do it all at once,” Sammy explained. “I took small steps, learned from my mistakes, and kept going, even when it was hard. That’s the power of persistence!”

From that day on, Sammy’s story inspired every seagull in the flock. Whenever the winds blew strong, they would shout, “Be like Sammy—small steps, smart changes, and keep going!”

Looking back at this adventure, Sammy learned that persistence is about learning, adapting, and never giving up. Small changes and steady effort can help you reach even the biggest goals!

**Chapter 6: Benny the Brave Beaver (being adaptable)**

![mitchjacksonesq_Colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_12fc898b-0b12-4d4e-9074-1f6fb542d51d_2.png](https://mitchjackson.xyz/u/mitchjacksonesq_colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_12fc898b-0b12-4d4e-9074-1f6fb542d51d_2-qPXXWZ.png)

Deep in the forest by the sparkling Creekling River, lived Benny the beaver, the best river dam builder in all the land. Benny loved stacking sticks and mud to make strong, sturdy dams. “No river’s too wild for my work!” he’d say proudly.

But one morning, Benny woke up to a big problem. The river had changed course overnight! The water was rushing down a new path, far from his dam. “Oh no!” cried Benny’s friends. “The river is gone! What will we do now?”

Benny scratched his head with his tail. “Hmm,” he said. “We can’t move the river back, but maybe we can move us instead!”

With a flick of his tail, Benny led his friends down the new river path. They found a sunny bend where the water swirled and sang. “This is it!” said Benny. “We’ll build here. But we’ll need to try something new.”

The other beavers looked nervous. “New? We like the old way!”

“Don’t worry,” Benny said with a grin. “We can learn together.”

Benny showed them how to gather lighter sticks to keep the new dam steady in the faster water. They tried placing the mud in wavy patterns instead of straight lines. It wasn’t perfect at first—sticks floated away and mud splattered everywhere—but Benny kept encouraging them. “Mistakes mean we’re learning!” he said.

Before long, their new dam was finished. The water slowed, creating a peaceful pond. Fish splashed, birds chirped, and the beavers cheered. “We did it!” they shouted.

“How did you know this would work, Benny?” asked a young beaver.

“I didn’t,” Benny admitted with a chuckle. “But I knew we could figure it out if we stayed flexible and worked together!”

From that day on, whenever the river changed, the beavers would say, “Be like Benny—build a new way!” And they always did.

The Lesson: Just like Benny, when things don’t go as planned, try looking for new ways to make them better. You might just create something amazing!

**Chapter 7: The Tale of Ellie and the Magic Hat (attention)**

![mitchjacksonesq_Colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_7ba46185-a2f2-41f7-9439-e6977e4f9bec_2.png](https://mitchjackson.xyz/u/mitchjacksonesq_colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_7ba46185-a2f2-41f7-9439-e6977e4f9bec_2-i3nRTV.png)

In the bustling town of Wonderville, Ellie was known for her big dreams and even bigger ideas. She loved inventing gadgets, drawing grand plans, and imagining adventures. But there was one little problem—Ellie often felt invisible.

“No one ever listens to me,” she sighed one afternoon after her latest idea for a super-speed scooter was ignored at school. “What’s the point of sharing if no one cares?”

That evening, Ellie wandered into her family’s attic, a treasure chest of forgotten things. Dust danced in the sunlight as she rummaged through boxes. Suddenly, she spotted something gleaming in a corner—a colorful hat covered in tiny, shimmering stars.

Curious, Ellie picked it up. Embroidered on the brim were the words: The Magical Listening Hat. She placed it on her head, and poof! A tiny glowing creature with butterfly wings appeared, zipping through the air like a firefly.

“Hello, Ellie! I’m Sparkle,” the creature chirped, spinning in delight. “This hat doesn’t just make you listen—it teaches others how to listen, too!”

Ellie’s eyes widened. “Really? How does it work?”

Sparkle beamed. “Simple! You ask great questions, pay close attention, and show people you care. But remember, true listening takes practice. Ready for your first adventure?”

Ellie grinned. “Let’s do it!”

**Ellie’s Adventure Begins**

Ellie ran outside wearing the Magical Listening Hat. The first person she met was Mr. Bumble, the town baker. He was huffing and puffing as he arranged his honey muffins on a tray.

“Good morning, Mr. Bumble!” Ellie said cheerfully. “You seem upset. What’s wrong?”

Mr. Bumble frowned. “No one likes my new muffins! I worked so hard on them, but they just sit on the shelf.”

Ellie tilted her head thoughtfully. “What’s the secret ingredient you’re so proud of?”

Mr. Bumble’s face lit up. “It’s a dash of cinnamon! I thought it would make them special.”

“Maybe the cinnamon is too strong,” Ellie suggested. “What if you added a bit less and let people taste-test them?”

Mr. Bumble nodded eagerly. Together, they adjusted the recipe, and soon the muffins were flying off the shelves. “Thank you, Ellie! I just needed someone to listen,” he said with a big smile.

Next, Ellie visited her best friend, Mia, who was sitting by the fountain with her sketchbook. Mia looked sad.

“What’s wrong, Mia?” Ellie asked, sitting beside her.

“My art project is a mess,” Mia sighed. “The big art contest is tomorrow, and I don’t think I’m good enough to win.”

Ellie put down her backpack and gave Mia her full attention. “Can you tell me more about your idea? Maybe I can help!”

Mia hesitated, then began explaining her sketch of a magical forest. Ellie listened carefully, nodding at the right moments. “It’s amazing!” Ellie said. “What if you add a little golden glow around the trees to make it look enchanted?”

With Ellie’s encouragement, Mia finished her project, and the next day, she won first prize at the contest. “I couldn’t have done it without you, Ellie,” Mia said, hugging her friend tightly.

**The Power of Giving and Getting Attention**

As Ellie helped more people, something magical began to happen: they started listening to her. When she shared her ideas for the super-speed scooter, her classmates didn’t just nod—they brainstormed with her. When she talked about her plans for a community garden, the neighbors offered to pitch in.

“See, Ellie?” Sparkle whispered one evening as they looked up at the stars. “When you give attention to others, you get it back like a boomerang. That’s the magic of listening.”

Ellie beamed. She realized that true magic wasn’t about shouting the loudest or having the fanciest ideas—it was about showing people you cared.

**What About You?**

Ellie’s story didn’t end there. She kept using her Magical Listening Hat to make Wonderville brighter and happier. And guess what? You can have a magical hat, too—it’s called your ears and your heart!

Next time you meet someone, try asking, “What’s your favorite thing to do?” or “How can I help today?” Listen carefully to their answer. Who knows? You might just discover your own listening magic and make the world a little more wonderful.

**Chapter 8: Sunny and the Magic of the Secret Superpower (positive attitude)**

![mitchjacksonesq_Colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_cb58a234-2792-468c-b53e-321eb5bc9646_1.png](https://mitchjackson.xyz/u/mitchjacksonesq_colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_cb58a234-2792-468c-b53e-321eb5bc9646_1-WJc0Ox.png)

In a charming little village called Cheerful Hollow, a clever fox named Sunny lived under the shade of a grand oak tree. Sunny’s orange fur sparkled like sunshine, but lately, her sparkle had dimmed. Every time something didn’t go as planned, Sunny would groan, “Why does everything bad happen to me?”

One misty morning, while Sunny sat grumbling by the pond, her best friend Benny the Bunny bounced over. Benny’s ears flopped with every hop, and his smile was as bright as a freshly baked carrot pie.

“Sunny, what’s going on? You look as gloomy as a rain cloud,” Benny said, tilting his head.

Sunny sighed. “Oh, Benny, it’s been awful! First, I spilled my milk, then I tripped over a silly root, and to top it off, the rain ruined my cozy nap spot!”

Benny chuckled and leaned closer. “Sounds like you need to dust off your secret superpower!”

Sunny’s ears shot straight up. “Secret superpower? I have one?”

Benny nodded wisely. “Of course, you do! Everyone does. It’s called attitude. When things go wrong, you can use it to make everything feel right again!”

Sunny’s tail swished with excitement. “How does it work?”

Benny twitched his whiskers. “It’s easy-peasy. When something goes wrong, do these three things:

First, pause and breathe.

Second, ask yourself, ‘What can I learn from this?’

Third, think of one thing you’re grateful for. It’s like magic!”

Sunny decided to give it a try. The next day, she accidentally knocked over her basket of berries. For a moment, her face scrunched into a frown. But then she remembered Benny’s advice.

“Okay,” she whispered to herself. “Pause and breathe…” She took a deep breath. “What can I learn? Oh! I should carry my basket with two paws, not one!” Then, she smiled. “And I’m grateful there are plenty more berries on the bush!”

By the end of the day, Sunny felt lighter, like a soft breeze was carrying her troubles away. Every time something went wrong, she practiced her three steps. Before long, her friends noticed Sunny’s cheerful glow and started asking for her secret.

Sunny shared Benny’s advice with everyone in Cheerful Hollow, teaching them the “Pause, Learn, and Thank” trick. Soon, the entire village was buzzing with joy, even on rainy days.

From that moment on, Sunny understood that her attitude wasn’t just a superpower—it was a magic wand for turning life’s hiccups into happy surprises.

And whenever a challenge came her way, Sunny would grin and say, “Time to use my secret superpower!”

**Chapter 9: Benny and the Broken Bridges (jealousy and forgiveness)**

![mitchjacksonesq_Colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_bc6e6425-81f1-49ee-8f1d-fc7fcbf39fd1_1.png](https://mitchjackson.xyz/u/mitchjacksonesq_colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_bc6e6425-81f1-49ee-8f1d-fc7fcbf39fd1_1-NwBDKc.png)

In the lively forest town of Workington, Benny the Beaver was famous for one thing: building the best bridges anyone had ever seen. His bridges were sturdy, safe, and beautiful, connecting all the forest animals across rivers and streams. Benny took great pride in his work, always making sure every plank was perfect.

But not everyone was happy about Benny’s success.

High up in an old oak tree, Woody the Woodpecker watched Benny hammer away at yet another bridge. Woody loved to build too, but his work was… different. While Benny’s bridges stood strong and straight, Woody’s creations were quirky, wobbly, and, well, a little messy. Some animals liked them, but most preferred Benny’s reliable bridges.

“Everyone thinks Benny is so great,” Woody muttered one afternoon, tapping furiously on a branch. “But what about me? Don’t I matter?”

That evening, Woody made a plan. The next day, as Benny was setting up his tools, Woody swooped down to the meadow where the animals gathered. “Have you noticed Benny’s bridges?” Woody began, his voice low and serious. “I heard they’re not as strong as they look. What if one breaks?”

The animals gasped. “Really?” whispered Molly the Mole. “Benny’s bridges always seem so sturdy.”

“Well,” Woody said, puffing out his chest, “maybe someone else should build bridges. Someone with a… unique touch.”

The whispers spread like wildfire. By the time Benny arrived, he noticed animals avoiding him. His heart felt heavy. What had he done wrong?

That night, Benny sat by the river, staring at his reflection. Just then, Sally the Squirrel scurried up. “Benny, you won’t believe what Woody’s been saying!” she exclaimed. “He told everyone your bridges might fall apart!”

Benny’s ears drooped. “Why would Woody do that? I’ve never been anything but kind to him.”

“Maybe he’s jealous,” Sally suggested gently. “But getting angry won’t help. You’re Benny the Builder! You should talk to him.”

The next morning, Benny carried his hammer to Woody’s tree. “Woody,” he called, “can we talk?”

Woody peeked out, looking guilty. “What do you want, Benny?”

“I heard what you said about my bridges,” Benny began. “If there’s a problem, I’d like to fix it. But… why would you spread those rumors?”

Woody sighed and fluttered down to the ground. “I was jealous,” he admitted. “Everyone loves your bridges, but no one notices mine. I thought if I made you look bad, maybe animals would come to me instead.”

Benny thought for a moment. “Woody, you’re a great builder too. Your designs are fun and creative! Maybe we could work together—your creativity and my sturdiness could make bridges that are both strong and beautiful.”

Woody’s beak opened in surprise. “You’d want to work with me? Even after what I said?”

“Of course,” Benny said, smiling. “Bridges aren’t just for crossing rivers—they’re for connecting friends.”

Together, Benny and Woody built a new bridge, the most incredible one Workington had ever seen. It was strong, colorful, and full of twists and turns that made it fun to cross. The animals loved it, and Woody’s jealousy melted away.

From that day on, Benny and Woody became the best building team in the forest, showing everyone that teamwork and kindness could turn even the worst mistakes into something wonderful.

Let's always remember that jealousy can make us do hurtful things, but admitting our mistakes and working together can build stronger friendships—and stronger bridges!

**Chapter 10: Sammy the Snail and the Belief Jacket (understanding other people's beliefs)**

![mitchjacksonesq_Colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_12ab461b-ffc7-4d21-ae41-e14c77b6b19f_3.png](https://mitchjackson.xyz/u/mitchjacksonesq_colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_12ab461b-ffc7-4d21-ae41-e14c77b6b19f_3-TDqtTU.png)

In the cozy meadow where flowers bloomed and bees buzzed, there lived a little snail named Sammy. Sammy wasn’t like the other snails who spent their days nibbling leaves and sliding around puddles. Sammy loved asking questions—big questions.

One sunny morning, Sammy heard his friends Rosie the Rabbit and Toby the Turtle arguing.

“Sunny days are the best!” Rosie said, thumping her paw.

“No way,” Toby replied, shaking his head. “Cloudy days are much better!”

Sammy tilted his head. “Why do they see things so differently?”

Sammy decided to visit Granny Beetle, the wisest bug in the meadow.

“Granny, how can I understand why Rosie and Toby believe different things?”

Granny Beetle smiled. “Ah, Sammy, you need the Belief Jacket!”

“The Belief Jacket?” Sammy’s antennae wiggled with curiosity. “What’s that?”

“It’s an invisible jacket you wear in your imagination,” Granny explained. “When you put it on, you’ll feel what it’s like to see the world the way someone else does.”

Sammy’s eyes widened. “How do I use it?”

“First, you ask questions to learn how they feel. Then you slip on the jacket and pretend you’re them. Listen closely and imagine what it’s like to be in their shoes—or shell!”

Sammy thanked Granny and scurried off to try it out.

He found Rosie hopping in the sunshine. “Rosie, why do you love sunny days so much?” he asked.

Rosie’s nose twitched. “Sunny days make everything bright and warm. I can hop fast, see far, and play all day!”

Sammy closed his eyes and imagined putting on the Belief Jacket. Suddenly, he felt warm sunshine on his shell and saw himself hopping like Rosie. “That does sound fun!” he said with a smile.

Next, Sammy went to Toby, who was resting by the pond. “Toby, why do you like cloudy days?”

Toby smiled. “Cloudy days are peaceful. They keep the meadow cool, and the soft light makes the pond shimmer like magic.”

Sammy slipped on the Belief Jacket again. This time, he felt the cool breeze and saw the shimmering water. “I can see why you’d love that,” he said kindly.

Later, Sammy returned to Granny Beetle. “The Belief Jacket worked! Rosie loves sunny days because they’re bright and playful. Toby loves cloudy days because they’re calm and magical. They both have good reasons!”

Granny Beetle beamed. “That’s the secret, Sammy. It’s not about deciding who’s right—it’s about understanding why they believe what they do.”

From that day on, Sammy wore his invisible Belief Jacket whenever he wanted to understand someone better. Soon, the whole meadow started asking Sammy for advice because he always made everyone feel understood.

And whenever someone asked how he did it, Sammy would laugh and say, “It’s easy—just put on the Belief Jacket and see the world through someone else’s eyes!”

So what's the moral of the story?

Understanding others begins with curiosity. When we take time to imagine how someone else feels, we can turn differences into connections and make the world a kinder place.

**Chapter 11- The Curious Case of Mr. Grump (the Golden Rule)**

![mitchjacksonesq_Colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_c9aa7e96-a42a-46e3-9e70-3297821af384_1.png](https://mitchjackson.xyz/u/mitchjacksonesq_colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_c9aa7e96-a42a-46e3-9e70-3297821af384_1-UMipPo.png)

Once upon a time, in the bustling town of Harmonyville, lived a clever fox named Frankie. Frankie was known for his shiny red coat, quick thinking, and kind heart. But Frankie had a secret—he loved solving tricky problems, especially ones involving people (or animals) not getting along.

One sunny morning, Frankie was busy building a birdhouse when a loud BANG startled him. It was Mr. Grump, a prickly porcupine, stomping through the square. He had accidentally dropped his basket of apples, and they were rolling everywhere!

“Move out of my way!” Mr. Grump barked, scaring the squirrels and sparrows nearby. Everyone avoided him because, well, he wasn’t exactly the nicest neighbor. But Frankie thought differently.

Frankie hopped over with a cheerful smile. “Hi, Mr. Grump! Let me help!”

Mr. Grump huffed but didn’t say no. As Frankie picked up the apples, he hummed a little tune:

🎵 If you want to make the world shine bright,
Treat others kind, and do what’s right! 🎵

When Frankie handed back the basket, Mr. Grump muttered, “Thanks,” and scurried away. The animals whispered, “Why bother helping him, Frankie? He’s always so mean!”

Frankie just grinned. “Everyone has a reason for their grumpiness. Maybe he’s just having a bad day!”

Days later, Frankie got a surprise. Mr. Grump showed up at his door holding a bundle of wildflowers. “I wanted to say sorry,” Mr. Grump said shyly. “I’ve been, well… prickly. You reminded me what it’s like to be treated kindly, so I wanted to do the same.”

Frankie’s eyes sparkled. “See? The Golden Rule works magic!”

From that day forward, Mr. Grump wasn’t so grumpy anymore. The townsfolk started calling him Mr. Glow because kindness made him shine from the inside out.

The lesson? When someone is grumpy or rude, don’t growl back. Instead, try a smile and a helping hand. Because, just like Frankie, you might turn a bad day—or even a grumpy porcupine—into something golden.

🎵 Kindness is catching, it’s true as can be,
When you live by the Rule, you’ll make harmony! 🎵

And with that, Frankie trotted off, ready for his next adventure in Harmonyville.

**Chapter 12: Hazel the Humble Horse (be humble)**

![mitchjacksonesq_Colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_18c68308-8359-410d-90b7-eb6e8d47aebd_1.png](https://mitchjackson.xyz/u/mitchjacksonesq_colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_18c68308-8359-410d-90b7-eb6e8d47aebd_1-JXM9US.png)

Once upon a time, in the sunlit meadows of Cloverland, there lived a spirited young horse named Hazel. Hazel was no ordinary horse—she could gallop faster than the river’s current, leap higher than the tallest bushes, and her shiny brown coat sparkled in the sunlight. She loved being the best and made sure everyone knew it.

Every spring, Cloverland hosted the Great Meadow Games, a festival where all the animals came together to compete and have fun. This year, Hazel was determined to win every event. And she did! She outran the deer, jumped higher than the kangaroos, and even carried the heaviest sacks faster than the oxen.

After her grand victory, Hazel pranced through the meadow, her head held high. “Did you see how fast I was?” she neighed to the rabbits. “Nobody here can jump like me!” she boasted to the squirrels. “I’m the best in all of Cloverland!” she declared to anyone who would listen.

At first, her friends clapped and cheered, impressed by her talent. But as the days went by, Hazel’s constant bragging made them uneasy. The rabbits twitched their noses and hopped away. The squirrels busied themselves with collecting acorns. Even her best friend, Max the mole, stayed in his burrow longer than usual.

One afternoon, Hazel trotted to the pond, hoping to show off her reflection in the water. But instead of feeling proud, she felt lonely. The meadow was quiet, and no one came to play.

“Why doesn’t anyone want to talk to me?” Hazel wondered aloud.

From the branches of an old oak tree, Willow the wise owl watched silently. She flew down and perched beside Hazel.

“Hello, Hazel,” Willow said kindly. “You seem troubled. What’s wrong?”

“No one wants to play with me anymore,” Hazel sighed. “But I don’t understand. I’m the fastest and the best. Shouldn’t they want to be around me?”

Willow tilted her head. “Hazel, have you ever heard of the ‘Salt and Soup Rule?’”

Hazel shook her mane. “What’s that?”

“Salt makes soup taste better,” Willow explained, “but too much salt can ruin the whole pot. Sharing your achievements is like adding salt—it’s good in small amounts. But if you talk only about yourself, it can feel overwhelming, like too much salt in soup.”

Hazel’s ears drooped. “I didn’t mean to ruin the soup,” she whispered. “What can I do to fix it?”

“Try listening and celebrating others,” Willow suggested. “Instead of talking about how great you are, ask about their stories. Show them you care.”

That evening, Hazel decided to give it a try. She visited Max’s burrow and peeked inside. “Hi, Max,” she said softly. “I missed you. How’s your digging project going?”

Max looked up, surprised. “You really want to know?”

“Of course!” Hazel said. “You’re the best digger in Cloverland! Maybe you could teach me a thing or two.”

Max smiled and crawled out of his burrow. “Well, let me show you!” he said.

The next day, Hazel galloped to the rabbits. “Your hopping is amazing,” she said. “Can you teach me how to jump like that?”

The rabbits giggled and showed Hazel their secret hopping techniques. Soon, the meadow was alive with laughter and joy.

Over time, Hazel learned to celebrate her friends’ talents along with her own. She discovered that cheering for others felt just as wonderful as winning—and sometimes even better.

When the next Great Meadow Games arrived, Hazel won a few events, but she also clapped the loudest when others triumphed. The animals of Cloverland cheered for Hazel, not because she was the fastest, but because she was their kind and humble friend.

And from that day on, Hazel was known as the horse with a heart as shiny as her coat.

She learned that true greatness comes not from bragging but from celebrating others and sharing joy.

**Chapter 13: Robbie and the Magic Pause Button (take time for yourself)**

Once upon a time, there was a boy named Robbie who was always on the move. He’d leap out of bed, skip breakfast, and race out the door without even tying his shoes properly. Robbie zoomed through his day like a rocket, always saying, “No time to stop! Gotta keep going!”

But lately, something wasn’t right. Robbie’s legs felt like spaghetti, his brain was a jumbled-up puzzle, and even his favorite games didn’t feel fun anymore. Worst of all, he couldn’t keep up with his dog, Sparky, who loved to run circles around him.

One afternoon, while chasing a butterfly in the park, Robbie tripped and tumbled into a soft patch of grass. As he sat up, grumbling, he spotted something shiny. It was a strange little button sticking out of the ground, with bold letters that read:

“The Magic Pause Button—Press to Recharge!”

“Recharge?” Robbie scratched his head. “I’m not a robot!”

Sparky barked, wagging his tail as if to say, Go on, try it!

Robbie shrugged and pressed the button. Suddenly, the world around him seemed to pause. A calm, gentle voice floated through the air:

“Robbie, even the fastest racers need pit stops. Sometimes, the best way to go far is to pause for a little while.”

“A pause?” Robbie frowned. “But I’ll fall behind!”

“Not at all,” the voice replied. “Sit under that tree, close your eyes, and listen to the wind. Trust me.”

Robbie hesitated but decided to give it a try. He sat under a shady oak tree, felt the cool breeze tickle his face, and listened to the birds singing. Slowly, his tired legs felt strong again, his jumbled-up brain cleared, and his heart felt light as a feather.

When Robbie stood up, he stretched his arms and laughed. “Whoa! I feel AMAZING!”

From that day on, Robbie kept the Magic Pause Button with him. Whenever he felt tired, stuck, or grumpy, he’d press it and take a moment to rest—whether it was lying in the grass, petting Sparky, or just closing his eyes to imagine clouds turning into dragons and flying ships.

And guess what? Robbie discovered he could run faster, think smarter, and enjoy everything so much more. Even Sparky had a hard time keeping up with him!

Robbie showed his friends the button and said, “It’s not about stopping—it’s about charging up for what’s next. Trust me, it’s magic!”

So, the next time you feel like Robbie, remember this: taking a little pause isn’t slowing down—it’s your secret power to keep going strong.

**Chapter 14: The Tale of Bruno the Bull and the Invisible Treasure (character)**

![mitchjacksonesq_Colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_cbe108be-ce02-44b4-9fe2-dfdfa8b3a754_3.png](https://mitchjackson.xyz/u/mitchjacksonesq_colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_cbe108be-ce02-44b4-9fe2-dfdfa8b3a754_3-kCNy4t.png)

Once upon a time, in the grassy fields of Meadow Valley, there lived a big, strong bull named Bruno. Bruno had the shiniest coat, the longest horns, and a booming “Moo!” that echoed across the hills. Everyone admired him because of how he looked, but deep down, Bruno felt there was more to life than being admired for his horns or his coat.

One evening, Old Owl perched on a fencepost and hooted, “Bruno, do you know what makes someone truly special? It’s not how they look or how loud they moo—it’s their character.”

“Character?” Bruno asked, scratching his head with a hoof. “What’s that?”

Old Owl’s eyes twinkled. “Character is who you are when no one’s watching. It’s the way you treat others, the choices you make, and the kindness in your heart. It’s what makes you someone others can trust and admire—not for how you look, but for who you truly are.”

Bruno thought about this. “So, if I have strong character, it means I’m strong on the inside?”

“Exactly!” hooted Old Owl. “And that kind of strength lasts forever.”

From that moment on, Bruno decided to build his character. That afternoon, when he saw Little Rabbit struggling to pull her carrot cart up a hill, he didn’t wait for an audience. Bruno trotted over and helped push the cart with his mighty horns. “Thank you, Bruno!” Little Rabbit squeaked.

Later, Bruno saw a shiny apple floating downstream. It was tempting, but he remembered it belonged to Farmer Jack. Bruno nudged it back to shore, even though no one was around to notice.

As days passed, Bruno made choices that felt right in his big bull heart. When a storm swept through Meadow Valley, Bruno stood tall and led the animals to safety in the barn. The other animals trusted Bruno—not because of his shiny coat or long horns, but because they knew his character was as strong as his muscles.

When the storm passed, Old Owl flew down and said, “Well done, Bruno. You’ve built your treasure.”

“But I didn’t find any treasure,” Bruno said.

Old Owl smiled. “Your treasure is your character. It’s what others see in you, and what you know about yourself. It’s more precious than gold and will always make you proud.”

And so, Bruno kept building his invisible treasure, becoming the most admired bull in Meadow Valley—not for his horns or his coat, but for the strength and kindness in his heart.

**Chapter 15: Buddy’s Big Gift- A Tale of Generosity (giving)**

Once upon a time, in the sunny town of Wagville, there lived a happy hound dog named Buddy. Buddy wasn’t just any hound—he was the best sniff-detective in town. Whenever someone lost a sock, a ball, or even a snack, Buddy was on the case!

One day, Buddy noticed something strange. The usually cheerful birds at the park weren’t chirping. The rabbits in the meadow looked worried. And even the bakery, with its wonderful smells, seemed quieter than usual.

“Something’s wrong,” Buddy thought. “I need to find out what!”

So, Buddy followed his nose to Miss Bella, the baker. “Miss Bella, why is everyone so glum?” he asked, his ears flopping.

Miss Bella sighed. “Buddy, some families in Wagville are having a hard time. They don’t have enough to eat or warm blankets for the chilly nights.”

Buddy’s heart sank. “That’s terrible! What can I do?”

Miss Bella smiled softly. “You’re already Wagville’s helper. Maybe you could rally the town to pitch in?”

Buddy’s tail wagged so hard, it was like a fan. “I’m on it!” he barked.

Buddy raced to the park and barked his loudest bark. “Attention, everyone! We need to help our friends in Wagville!” The squirrels chattered, the cats meowed, and the ducks quacked in agreement. Buddy shared his idea: a big charity day where everyone could bring what they could—food, blankets, and toys—to share.

The big day arrived, and Wagville buzzed with excitement. Everyone pitched in: Miss Bella baked pies, Farmer Joe brought fresh veggies, and even the tiny mice knitted scarves. Buddy wagged and welcomed every donation with a cheerful “Thank you!”

By the end of the day, the park was filled with gifts for the families in need. Wagville felt warmer and happier than ever. As Buddy looked around, his heart swelled with pride. He didn’t just see donations—he saw teamwork, kindness, and love.

From that day on, Buddy became known not just as the town’s best sniff-detective but as Wagville’s top helper. And whenever someone asked why he worked so hard, Buddy would say, “Helping others makes our town stronger, and that’s the best gift of all.”

Buddy’s story reminds us that being a leader isn’t about barking the loudest—it’s about giving with a big heart and inspiring others to do the same. Together, we can make our community brighter and better for everyone.

**Chapter 16: Hazel the Hummingbird and the Power of Words (communication)**

![mitchjacksonesq_Colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_35346a59-835b-4974-a2cd-c7c81dbf027c_2.png](https://mitchjackson.xyz/u/mitchjacksonesq_colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_35346a59-835b-4974-a2cd-c7c81dbf027c_2-XzoONH.png)

In the magical garden of Willow Glade, Hazel the hummingbird was famous for two things: her dazzling, rainbow-bright feathers and her lightning-fast wings. But Hazel had another trait that wasn’t as helpful—she talked as fast as she flew.

“Buzz, buzz, buzz!” Hazel zipped around, her words spilling out like a rushing stream. She was always full of ideas, but her speedy chatter often left her friends scratching their heads.

One day, Hazel had her best idea yet. “Let’s have a Flower Feast!” she chirped, flapping her tiny wings so fast they blurred.

“Great idea!” her friend Poppy the butterfly said. “What should we bring?”

“Flowers—lots of flowers! Red ones, yellow ones—oh, and maybe berries—and, uh, maybe petals? Bring it all! Tomorrow at… uh, sometime in the morning. Bye!” Hazel zoomed off before anyone could ask questions.

The next day, Hazel’s friends gathered, carrying all sorts of things: daisies, roses, leaves, even pinecones! Wren the sparrow brought a pile of moss.

Hazel gasped, “This isn’t what I meant!”

Poppy frowned. “Hazel, we didn’t understand what you wanted. You talked so fast, and your instructions were all over the place!”

Hazel felt her feathers droop. She hadn’t meant to confuse her friends. She flew off to her wise friend Oliver the owl, perched in his tree.

“Oliver,” Hazel said, “I wanted to make the best feast ever, but no one understood me. What am I doing wrong?”

Oliver ruffled his feathers and gave Hazel a thoughtful look. “Hazel, you’re like a whirlwind. Fast and exciting, but hard to follow. Clear words and careful thinking can be just as powerful as fast wings. Let me show you.”

Oliver gave Hazel two special tools: the Compass of Clarity and the Pen of Precision.

“The Compass will slow you down and help you find your direction,” said Oliver. “And the Pen will teach you to focus your words so others can understand.”

Hazel practiced with Oliver. She learned to slow her words, think carefully, and use just the right ones. It wasn’t easy—sometimes she still zoomed ahead—but she worked hard.

The next morning, Hazel tried again. She gathered her friends and said, “Friends, let’s have a Flower Feast tomorrow at noon. Bring ten red roses, five yellow tulips, and three daisy chains. We’ll meet under the big willow tree.”

This time, her Compass of Clarity glowed softly, and her Pen of Precision sparkled.

When the feast day arrived, the garden was filled with exactly the flowers Hazel had imagined. Everyone cheered as they arranged the blossoms into a beautiful flower palace.

Hazel beamed. “When I slowed down and thought clearly, look what we created together!”

From that day on, Hazel wasn’t just the fastest bird in Willow Glade—she became the best communicator, too. Whether planning a feast or solving a problem, her friends knew they could count on her clear and thoughtful words.

Hazel learned that when you slow down and choose your words carefully, you can make your big ideas shine—and bring everyone together.

**Chapter 17: Ellie the Elephant and the Spark of Confidence (confidence)**

![mitchjacksonesq_Colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_a8a55f3d-f9fe-4781-a046-4486f30c3d42_1.png](https://mitchjackson.xyz/u/mitchjacksonesq_colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_a8a55f3d-f9fe-4781-a046-4486f30c3d42_1-JhW5XX.png)

In the heart of the vibrant Wonderwood jungle, there lived a young elephant named Ellie. Ellie was gentle and curious, with big, floppy ears that flapped when she was excited and a trunk that could pick mangoes from the highest branches. But Ellie often doubted herself. She admired her friends—Leo the Lion, who roared with courage, and Zara the Zebra, who was always first to try something new. Ellie, however, preferred to stay in the background, afraid she might mess up if she tried.

One morning, Ellie was watching Polly the Parrot swoop and twirl through the trees. Polly was Ellie’s best friend and the wisest creature she knew.

“Why do you always look so confident, Polly?” Ellie asked, her trunk dragging on the ground.

Polly fluffed her bright green feathers and perched on a branch close to Ellie. “Confidence isn’t about never being afraid, Ellie. It’s a little spark inside you that grows bigger every time you try something brave.”

Ellie’s ears perked up. “A spark? But what if I try and fail?”

Polly smiled. “If you stumble, you just get up and try again. That’s how the spark grows!”

**Trying Something New**

Polly decided Ellie needed a little challenge. She pointed to a coconut lying on the jungle floor. “How about you balance that coconut on your trunk? It’s just for fun!”

Ellie hesitated. “What if I drop it?”

“Then we’ll laugh and try again,” Polly chirped.

Taking a deep breath, Ellie curled her trunk around the coconut. She lifted it, and immediately, it rolled off and landed with a soft plop. Ellie’s cheeks turned pink.

“That was great for a first try!” Polly encouraged. “Go again!”

Ellie tried once more, and the coconut wobbled but stayed put. She beamed. “I did it!”

“That’s your spark growing, Ellie,” Polly said proudly.

**The Muddy Adventure**

Later that week, Ellie faced a bigger challenge. She and Polly were on their way to visit their friend Zara the Zebra when they came to a wide, muddy puddle. The only way across was to step right into the sticky mud.

“What if I get stuck?” Ellie worried, her spark flickering with doubt.

Polly perched on Ellie’s back and whispered, “Remember, Ellie, it’s okay to stumble. You just have to keep going.”

With a nervous flap of her ears, Ellie lifted her foot and stepped into the mud. Squelch! Her foot sank, and when she tried to lift it, she fell with a loud splash. Mud splattered everywhere, and Ellie froze. But Polly burst into laughter.

“You look like a muddy masterpiece!” Polly teased, her laughter contagious.

Ellie giggled too and stood up. On her next step, she found a firmer spot. Slowly but surely, she made her way across the puddle. By the time she reached the other side, her spark was glowing a little brighter.

**The Wobbly Bridge**

Ellie’s biggest test came when her friends asked her to lead the way across a wobbly vine bridge. Zara and Leo stood behind her, cheering her on.

“Ellie, you can do it!” Zara said, her striped tail flicking excitedly.

Ellie’s spark flickered nervously. She looked at the shaky bridge, then at her friends. “What if I fall?”

Leo padded up beside her and gave a warm smile. “Then we’ll catch you. But I know you’ll make it.”

Ellie took a deep breath, stood tall, and placed one foot on the bridge. The vines swayed beneath her, but she didn’t stop. She focused on her spark and imagined how proud she’d feel on the other side. With each step, her confidence grew until, at last, she reached the other side.

Her friends cheered, and Ellie felt something wonderful—she wasn’t just proud; she believed in herself.

**A Spark That Shines**

From that day on, Ellie discovered that confidence wasn’t about being fearless or perfect. It was about trying, learning, and trusting herself. Every time she faced a challenge, whether it was reaching a high branch or helping her friends solve a problem, she thought of the little spark inside her.

And just like that, Ellie’s spark grew into a steady, shining flame.

**Chapter 18: Cody the Curious Coyote (be curious)**

![mitchjacksonesq_Colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_c8f4dcfd-f1fe-4cde-b745-d97d74a16fcd_3.png](https://mitchjackson.xyz/u/mitchjacksonesq_colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_c8f4dcfd-f1fe-4cde-b745-d97d74a16fcd_3-xKGCBC.png)

In the golden desert, under a sky painted with streaks of pink and orange, lived a young coyote named Cody. Cody wasn’t the fastest runner, the strongest digger, or even the best at catching jackrabbits. But Cody had something special—a boundless curiosity about the world.

While other coyotes stuck to the same trails and routines, Cody couldn’t help but wonder: What’s over that hill? Why does the wind whistle at night? What if I tried something new today?

One bright morning, as Cody padded along a familiar path, he noticed a strange glimmer in the sand. It was a smooth, shiny rock unlike any he’d seen before. “What are you?” Cody murmured, nudging the rock with his nose.

His friend, Bella the bobcat, passed by and snickered. “It’s just a rock, Cody. Nothing special. Why waste time on it?”

But Cody tilted his head. “How do you know it’s not special if you don’t ask questions about it?”

Bella shrugged and wandered off. Cody, however, couldn’t let it go. He spent hours observing the rock, rolling it in his paws, and sniffing its cool surface. Soon, Cody discovered the rock could reflect the sunlight, creating tiny rainbows on the ground.

When Cody showed the other animals, they gasped in amazement. “How did you figure that out?” asked Bella, now curious herself.

“I just kept wondering,” Cody replied with a smile. “Curiosity helps you see things that others might miss.”

**The Power of Curiosity**

One day, the animals faced a big problem. The stream that gave them water had dried up, and everyone was scared and thirsty. The older animals groaned, “This happens every summer. There’s nothing we can do.”

But Cody thought differently. “What if we explore and look for a new source of water?” he asked.

“Why bother?” grumbled Grayson the goat. “What if there’s nothing out there?”

“What if there is?” Cody countered.

Cody set off with a spark of determination. Along the way, he sniffed the air, noticed how the plants grew greener in one direction, and listened to the faint gurgle of running water. After a long journey, he found a hidden spring bubbling up from the rocks.

Cody rushed back to share the news. “I found water! And all it took was a little curiosity!”

The animals cheered, grateful for Cody’s willingness to ask questions and explore the unknown.

**Why Curiosity Matters**

That night, under a sky full of twinkling stars, Owl flew down to speak with Cody. “You’ve done a great thing for our home,” Owl said. “But tell me, why are you always so curious?”

Cody thought for a moment. “Because curiosity makes life exciting. It helps me find answers, solve problems, and discover things I never imagined. When you’re curious, the world feels bigger and brighter, like there’s always something new to learn.”

Owl nodded wisely. “Curiosity is a gift, Cody. It keeps your mind sharp and your heart open. Never stop wondering.”

From that day on, Cody became known as the Curious Coyote. His questions inspired the other animals to ask their own. Together, they explored new places, solved tricky problems, and learned that curiosity wasn’t just about finding answers—it was about seeing the magic in every moment.

And so, the desert thrived, not because of its fastest runner or strongest digger, but because of Cody, who showed everyone the power of a curious heart.

**Chapter 19: The Tale of Dally, the Delegating Sheepdog (delegation)**

![mitchjacksonesq_Colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_57af2e8e-ad71-4f1b-99f5-7e3f7769e374_1.png](https://mitchjackson.xyz/u/mitchjacksonesq_colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_57af2e8e-ad71-4f1b-99f5-7e3f7769e374_1-1OJsiy.png)

In a meadow surrounded by rolling hills, there lived a sheepdog named Dally. She had fluffy white fur, sharp ears, and a wagging tail that showed how much she loved her job. Dally was in charge of a flock of playful sheep, and she took her responsibilities very seriously.

Every day, Dally ran from sunrise to sunset. She barked orders to the sheep, chased away sneaky foxes, mended fences, and even fetched water for the lambs. The other animals admired her hard work. “Dally is amazing!” said Duck. “She does everything!”

But Dally didn’t feel amazing. By the time the stars twinkled, she was so tired her paws could barely carry her to bed.

One morning, while Dally was struggling to fix a fence, Old Owl flew down and perched on a fence post.

“Good morning, Dally,” Owl hooted. “You’re up early again.”

Dally sighed. “There’s too much to do, Owl! If I don’t do it, no one else will. And what if they mess it up?”

Old Owl tilted his head. “Hmm, Dally, have you ever thought about letting the others help?”

“Help? Oh, Owl, you don’t understand. Duck gets distracted, Goat is too clumsy, and Chickens—well, they’d rather peck at seeds than do real work!”

Owl chuckled. “Even the best leaders need a little help. Delegating isn’t about losing control; it’s about sharing the load. Give them a chance, and you might be surprised.”

Dally thought about Owl’s words all day. Could the others really help?

That evening, she gathered all the meadow animals together. “Listen up, everyone,” Dally said, wagging her tail nervously. “I’ve been trying to do everything on my own, but I think we could get more done if we work as a team. Would you like to help?”

Duck quacked excitedly. “I’d love to! I could lead the sheep to the pond for water.”

Goat bleated, “I can keep the barn tidy. I’ve got a knack for moving hay bales!”

Even the Chickens flapped their wings. “We’ll guard the seeds from the crows!”

At first, Dally felt uneasy. Duck got lost on the way to the pond, Goat spilled a whole bucket of water, and the Chickens argued about who should watch the crows. “This isn’t working,” Dally muttered to herself.

But then she remembered Owl’s advice. She took a deep breath and showed everyone how to do their tasks properly. “Duck, here’s a shortcut to the pond. Goat, let’s stack the hay together this time. And Chickens, let’s take turns watching for crows.”

Little by little, the animals got better. Duck learned the pond path by heart. Goat made the barn sparkle. The Chickens became expert crow-watchers. And Dally? She finally had time to play with the lambs and nap under her favorite tree.

One day, as the meadow buzzed with teamwork, Old Owl flew down again. “Well, Dally, how does it feel to have helpers?”

Dally smiled. “It feels wonderful, Owl. The sheep are happy, the barn is clean, and I’m not so tired anymore. You were right—sharing the load makes everything better.”

Owl hooted with pride. “Remember, Dally, a great leader doesn’t do all the work. A great leader helps others shine.”

From that day on, Dally and her friends worked as a team, making the meadow a happier, brighter place for everyone.

Fast forward to today and Dally knows that sharing responsibilities isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s a way to build trust, teamwork, and joy. When we let others help, we grow stronger together.

**Chapter 20: Check Your Cluck- Handling Emotions and Feelings (emotions)**

![mitchjacksonesq_Colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_f8bca321-1bb7-4903-a145-5b995bd2242a_2.png](https://mitchjackson.xyz/u/mitchjacksonesq_colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_f8bca321-1bb7-4903-a145-5b995bd2242a_2-mn3nvs.png)

Clucky the chicken was having one of those mornings. The sun was shining, the rooster was crowing, and everything should have felt just right. But when Clucky accidentally scattered hay across the coop, Mr. Featherbottom clucked loudly, “Clucky, you’re always making a mess!”

His sharp words stung, and Clucky felt her feathers puff up with frustration. Her beak opened to cluck back something sharp, but she stopped herself just in time. She remembered Mama Hen’s wise words: “Check your cluck before you run amuck!”

Taking a deep breath, Clucky paused and asked herself, What am I feeling? The answer came quickly—frustration. Just naming the feeling made it seem smaller, like letting air out of an overfilled balloon. She glanced at the mess she’d made and thought, Will this even matter tomorrow? The image of herself and her friends laughing and pecking around the yard later made her realize it wouldn’t.

With that, she flapped her wings a few times, shook out the irritation, and felt the tension ease away.

Just as Clucky was regaining her calm, Penny the Pig waddled over in a flurry of snorts. “Clucky!” Penny cried. “Someone spilled water in my mud patch, and now it’s ruined!”

Her little piggy eyes were wide, and her hooves were stomping in distress. Clucky could see that Penny was caught in her own emotional whirlwind.

Remembering Mama Hen’s advice, Clucky stepped closer, put a wing on Penny’s shoulder, and said softly, “Oh, Penny, I can tell you’re really upset about your mud.” Penny sniffled but stopped stomping, her ears twitching as she listened.

Clucky stayed as calm as a feather floating on the breeze. “Let’s figure this out together,” she said. “What do you think we could do to fix it?”

Penny paused, her snorts slowing, and then her face brightened. “We could bring more water and make new mud!” she exclaimed.

With teamwork and a few giggles along the way, they fetched buckets of water and splashed until Penny’s mud patch was squishier and better than ever.

As they stood back and admired their work, Penny turned to Clucky with a grateful smile. “Thanks, Clucky,” she said.

Clucky grinned, feeling proud of how she had managed her own emotions and helped a friend through theirs. It wasn’t always easy, but Clucky knew that checking her cluck before running amuck made all the difference.

From that day on, whenever emotions ran high on the farm, Clucky used her calm, thoughtful ways to turn storms into sunshine. Because, as Mama Hen always said, emotions might flap through your feathers like a wild wind, but with a little pause, perspective, and kindness, you can handle anything.

**Chapter 21: Julie and the Magic Shoes (empathy)**

Once upon a time, in the colorful town of Willowbrook, there lived a little girl named Julie. Julie loved adventures, but what she loved even more was her shiny red shoes. They weren’t just any shoes—they were magic!

Her grandma had said so with a wink. “These shoes,” she told Julie, “help you step into someone else’s world. It's called having empathy for someone else. You just have to imagine their feelings, and the shoes will do the rest.”

Julie wasn’t sure what Grandma meant until one rainy day at school. Her best friend Mia looked sad, sitting all alone. Julie wanted to cheer her up, so she tapped her shiny red shoes together and thought, What could Mia be feeling?

Suddenly, Julie felt a little droopy, like a wilting flower. She realized Mia must be feeling lonely. Julie sat beside her and said, “Want to play our favorite game after lunch?” Mia’s face lit up like the sun breaking through clouds. “Really? I’d love that!”

From that day on, Julie used her magic shoes everywhere she went. When Mr. Henry, the grumpy neighbor, yelled at her for playing too loud, she tapped her shoes and felt tired and achy. “Maybe he’s just having a tough day,” Julie thought, and brought him cookies instead. His frown melted into a big, warm smile.

The shoes taught Julie an important secret: when you imagine how others feel, you can make their world a little brighter. And the best part? You don’t even need magic shoes to do it. All it takes is a little heart.

So the next time you see someone looking down, think of Julie and her magic shoes. Step into their world, and you might just find a friend for life. Because, as Julie learned, empathy isn’t just magic—it’s the most wonderful adventure of all.

**Chapter 22: Milo and the Magical Energy of Enthusiasm (enthusiasm)**

Deep in the jungles of Wigglewood, there lived a curious monkey named Milo. Milo loved solving problems and making his friends laugh, but he had one special talent that set him apart—his boundless enthusiasm. Whether it was swinging on vines or gathering bananas, Milo always made every task seem like the most exciting adventure in the world.

One day, the animals of Wigglewood faced a big problem. The banana trees, their favorite snack source, had stopped growing fruit. Everyone gathered for a meeting, but the mood was gloomy. “What’s the point? We’ll never figure this out,” sighed Ellie the elephant, her trunk drooping low.

But Milo leaped onto a rock and clapped his furry hands. “Come on, everyone! Let’s put our heads together and solve this mystery. It’ll be fun—like a treasure hunt!”

The animals blinked at him. “Fun?” mumbled Terry the turtle. “This feels impossible.”

Milo grinned. “Nothing’s impossible if we try! Who’s with me?”

Slowly, paws, hooves, and wings went up. Inspired by Milo’s excitement, the animals began brainstorming. Some dug around the roots of the trees, others searched for signs of insects or disease, and Milo zipped between groups, cheering everyone on.

“Try over there, Ellie! Terry, you’re doing great!” Milo’s encouragement was like sunshine breaking through the trees, and soon, everyone was smiling—even Terry.

Finally, clever Pip the parrot squawked, “Look! The river that waters the trees is blocked!” Sure enough, a big pile of rocks had dammed up the stream. The animals worked together to clear the blockage, laughing and cheering the whole time. Water rushed back to the trees, and within days, tiny bananas began to grow.

When the first bunch ripened, Milo climbed to the top and held it high. “We did it, team! And we did it together!”

The animals cheered, and Ellie said, “You were right, Milo. Enthusiasm really does make everything better.”

Milo beamed. “That’s the magic of caring—and sharing it with others.”

From then on, whenever the animals faced a challenge, they remembered Milo’s lesson: with a little enthusiasm, even the toughest tasks can feel like adventures.

**Chapter 23: Leo the Lion and the Magical Hour (exercise)**

![Screenshot 2025-01-03 at 3.41.31 PM.png](https://mitchjackson.xyz/u/screenshot-2025-01-03-at-3-41-31-pm-7Gxt5v.png)

Once upon a time, in the heart of the golden Savannah, there lived a lion named Leo. Now, Leo was no ordinary lion—he was big and brave, but lately, he’d been feeling a bit… sluggish. His roars weren’t as loud, his pounces weren’t as high, and even his favorite sunny spots didn’t seem so cozy anymore.

One bright morning, his best friend, Zara the Zebra, trotted up to him. “Leo, what’s wrong? You don’t look like your usual roaring self.”

Leo let out a soft sigh. “I just feel… tired. Like my paws are too heavy to move.”

Zara tilted her striped head. “Have you tried moving around more? Stretching, walking, maybe even a little prancing? It’s like magic—it makes you feel stronger and happier!”

“Magic?” Leo asked, his ears perking up. “I like the sound of that. What do I need to do?”

Zara grinned. “It’s simple! Let’s start with a big stretch. Come on, stretch those lion legs!”

Leo stood up and stretched his front paws waaaaay out. “Grrrrrrr,” he growled as he stretched, feeling a little spark of energy.

“Now, follow me!” Zara called, trotting ahead. Leo began to walk behind her, his paws brushing the soft grass. Step by step, he started to feel lighter. Soon, Zara broke into a playful prance, and Leo couldn’t resist—he leaped after her!

“Hey, this is fun!” Leo roared, his golden mane bouncing as he chased Zara around. Other animals started to join in—a playful meerkat did somersaults, and even the grumpy warthog wiggled his tail.

When they finally stopped to catch their breath, Leo was smiling wide. “Zara, you were right! Moving really does feel magical.”

Zara nodded. “And if you keep moving every day, even for just an hour, you’ll feel like this all the time. Plus, if you eat more crunchy greens and less of those sleepy berries, you’ll feel even better.”

From that day on, Leo made his magical hour a part of every day. Sometimes he stretched under the rising sun; other times, he leapt through the tall grass or walked along the Savannah’s edge. Each day, he felt stronger, faster, and more like the King of the Savannah he was meant to be.

And whenever he saw a friend feeling tired or down, he’d share his secret: “Move a little, roar a lot, and feel the magic grow!”

**Chapter 24: The Tale of Ella and the Magic Glance (eye contact)**

Once upon a time, in the colorful town of Brightwood, there lived a curious bunny named Ella. Ella had the softest fur, the fluffiest tail, and the most sparkling eyes you’d ever seen. But there was one thing she just couldn’t figure out—how to use her eyes to talk without saying a word.

One sunny morning, wise old Owlbert called a meeting in the meadow. “Ella,” he said, “did you know your eyes have magic? A glance can show someone you care, make them feel seen, and even help your words stick like honey on toast!”

Ella’s ears perked up. “Magic? Really? How does it work?”

Owlbert chuckled. “It’s all about balance. Too much staring, and it’s like a laser beam—too strong! Too little, and it’s like a disappearing act—too weak. But just the right amount? That’s the sweet spot, like the perfect carrot cake.”

Ella was excited to try. Her first practice was with her friend Sammy the squirrel. She looked into his eyes while he chattered about acorns. But oh no! She stared so hard that Sammy squeaked, “Ella, are you trying to hypnotize me?”

Embarrassed, Ella tried again. This time, she looked into his eyes, then softly shifted her gaze to his bushy tail and back. Sammy smiled. “That’s better! I feel like you’re really listening.”

With every critter she met, Ella practiced a little more. She looked, smiled, and even added a quick glance to the center of their foreheads when she wasn’t sure where to look. Soon, Ella’s friends started saying, “Talking to Ella feels warm and special!”

Owlbert smiled proudly. “See, Ella? Eye contact isn’t about staring—it’s about seeing. And when you make someone feel seen, it’s the best kind of magic.”

From that day on, Ella’s magic glance helped her make new friends, solve squirrel squabbles, and even win the Brightwood Bunny Talent Show with her heartfelt storytelling.

And so, Ella learned that with a little practice, a simple look can say the most wonderful things.

She understood that eye contact- looking someone in the eyes, is like magic. When used with care, it can show kindness, build trust, and make others feel special.

**Chapter 25: Ally the Alligator Learns to Let Go (forgiveness)**

On the sunny banks of Willow Waddle Creek lived Ally the Alligator, a curious and clever young gator. Ally loved helping her animal friends with ideas for games and projects. But one day, something happened that made her heart feel heavy.

“Hey, everyone!” chirped Benny the Beaver, “I built this new raft idea all by myself!”

Ally’s jaw dropped. That was my idea! she thought. Benny had forgotten to mention that Ally had helped him design it! Her tail swished angrily in the water.

All day, Ally’s tummy felt tight, like she’d swallowed a spiky pinecone. She snapped at her brother for no reason, and when bedtime came, she couldn’t sleep. The unfairness of it all kept playing in her head.

The next morning, Ally waddled to visit Wise Old Owl, perched in the big oak tree.

“Why are you frowning, Ally?” asked Owl, tilting his feathery head.

“Benny took credit for my idea!” Ally huffed. “And now, I feel awful.”

Owl blinked. “Do you know the secret to feeling better, Ally?”

“No…” Ally mumbled.

“It’s called forgiveness. Think of your hurt feelings like carrying a heavy backpack. When you forgive, you set that backpack down. You don’t carry it anymore.”

“But won’t Benny think it’s okay to forget me again?” asked Ally.

“Forgiving isn’t about saying what Benny did was right,” Owl explained. “It’s about choosing peace for yourself. You can tell Benny how you feel, but forgiving him frees you from the heavy load.”

Ally thought about this and decided to give it a try. She found Benny by the creek.

“Benny,” Ally said, “I felt sad when you didn’t mention my help with the raft. But I’m letting go of the upset because I don’t want to carry it around anymore.”

Benny’s eyes widened. “Oh no, Ally! I didn’t mean to hurt you. I’m sorry!”

From that day, Ally practiced letting go whenever she felt hurt or upset. She forgave herself when she made mistakes and helped her friends talk through their own conflicts. Before long, everyone at Willow Waddle Creek felt lighter, happier, and ready to work together.

And Ally? She realized that forgiveness wasn’t just about being kind to others—it was about being kind to herself, too.

**Chapter 26: Pippin the Penguin and the Magic Compass of Fun (having fun)**

![mitchjacksonesq_Colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_82d8b634-3a04-4edb-8bd2-2cdd030cc698_2.png](https://mitchjackson.xyz/u/mitchjacksonesq_colorful_and_playful_book_cover_design_featur_82d8b634-3a04-4edb-8bd2-2cdd030cc698_2-M1UHxz.png)

In the frosty lands of Frosty Bay, a little penguin named Pippin dreamed of big adventures. Pippin loved to make plans and build things, but lately, everything felt like one big chore. “Why is this so boring?” Pippin grumbled one morning, staring at a long to-do list.

As Pippin sat by the icy shore, feeling glum, a puffin named Tally swooped down. Tally always seemed cheerful, and today was no different. “What’s the matter, Pippin?” Tally asked, tilting her head.

“I have so much to do, but it’s all work, work, work!” Pippin sighed. “How can I ever enjoy this?”

With a twinkle in her eye, Tally pulled out a shiny, golden compass. “This, my friend, is the Magic Compass of Fun. It doesn’t just point to where you’re going—it helps you enjoy the journey!”

Pippin’s eyes lit up. “Really? How does it work?”

Tally grinned. “You’ll see. Let’s go on an adventure together!”

Their first challenge appeared quickly: an icy bridge with a crack down the middle. “How will we ever cross?” Pippin fretted.

Tally tapped the compass. “Think of it like a game. Slide here, hop there, and—ta-da!” With a playful laugh, Tally showed Pippin how to zigzag across the ice. Soon, Pippin was sliding and laughing too. “This isn’t so bad after all!” Pippin exclaimed.

As they traveled further, Pippin built a tall tower of shiny pebbles to mark their path. When it stood firm, the compass glowed brightly. “Time to celebrate!” Tally chirped.

“But it’s just a tower,” Pippin said, confused.

“No win is too small to celebrate!” Tally replied. Together, they danced around the tower until Pippin was giggling so hard, they both toppled into the snow.

Later, they stopped to draw a map of their adventure. Pippin started by sketching plain lines, but Tally hummed a silly tune and added funny doodles—penguins in hats and fish with mustaches. Pippin couldn’t help but join in. “Work feels like play when you add a little fun,” Tally said with a wink.

As the day went on, more penguins joined their adventure. They helped solve tricky puzzles, cheered each other on, and shared lots of laughs. By sunset, Pippin’s heart felt warmer than ever. “Having friends makes everything better,” Pippin thought.

When they returned home, Pippin looked at the compass, now glowing softly. “I always thought success was about hard work,” Pippin said, “but now I see it’s about enjoying the ride.”

Tally nodded. “Exactly. Fun isn’t just extra—it’s what makes the journey unforgettable.”

From that day forward, Pippin tackled every adventure with curiosity, joy, and a little laughter. And you know what? Pippin’s story became legendary, not because it was perfect, but because it was filled with fun.

(And remember, little explorer: Like Pippin, you can always find the fun—even in the trickiest adventures!)

**Chapter 27: Harvey the Bold Hawk (be bold and take risks)**

High in the cliffs of Windy Ridge lived Harvey the Hawk, a young bird with big dreams. Harvey loved to soar across the sky, his wings cutting through the clouds. But while other hawks hunted or played, Harvey often perched on his favorite rock, dreaming.

One breezy morning, Harvey looked down at the forest below. “Why do we hawks only stick to the cliffs?” he wondered. “What if we explored the whole valley? Imagine what we could find!”

His sister, Hattie, flapped over, laughing. “Harvey, hawks don’t leave the cliffs! That’s how it’s always been.”

“But what if we could?” Harvey asked, his golden eyes shining. “What if there’s more waiting for us out there?”

Hattie shook her head, but Harvey’s heart was set. He decided to be bold. Early the next morning, before the sun peeked over the mountains, Harvey stretched his wings and dove off the cliff—not toward the forest edge, but beyond it, toward the unknown.

The valley was beautiful—shimmering rivers, wide open fields, and even an orchard filled with ripe, juicy apples. Harvey perched on a branch and marveled at the new sights. “If only the others could see this,” he thought.

But as he prepared to fly back, dark clouds rolled in. The wind howled, tossing Harvey through the air. “Maybe this was a mistake,” he muttered, flapping hard against the storm.

Still, Harvey pushed on, remembering his dream. “I have to show them what’s possible!” he said to himself.

When he finally reached the cliffs, soaked but determined, a crowd of hawks waited. “Harvey, where were you?” Hattie cried.

“Exploring,” Harvey said, puffing out his chest. “And you won’t believe what I found—a whole valley, full of food and places to fly! We don’t have to stay here. We can go farther!”

The hawks murmured, unsure. But Hattie stepped forward. “I want to see it too,” she said. “Will you show me?”

Harvey grinned. “Let’s all go! Together, we can discover so much more.”

The next day, Harvey led his flock to the valley. They soared over rivers, played in fields, and feasted on apples. From that day on, Harvey wasn’t just any hawk—he was Harvey the Bold, the one who dared to imagine a bigger, better life for everyone.

Harvey’s story reminds us that being bold means flying beyond what’s familiar and believing in what could be. Sometimes it’s scary, and sometimes it’s hard, but the best discoveries come when we dare to dream. So, spread your wings—what amazing things might you find?

**Chapter 28: Benny Bear’s Big First Impression (first impressions)**

In the forest of Evergreen Hollow, a young bear named Benny was about to start a brand-new adventure. His family had just moved to the forest, and today was his first day at Woodland Academy. Benny was nervous—what if nobody liked him?

Mama Bear gave him a hug before he left. “Remember, Benny,” she said, “a good first impression is like planting a seed. It helps friendships grow!”

Benny nodded, but he wasn’t sure how to make a good first impression. He asked his wise old neighbor, Mr. Owl, for advice.

“Ah, Benny,” said Mr. Owl, adjusting his spectacles. “It’s simple. Start with three things: a friendly smile, kind words, and a helpful paw. Those will show everyone the real you!”

Benny practiced his biggest, friendliest smile in the mirror before heading off. “I can do this,” he said.

At school, Benny walked into the classroom and saw a group of animals chatting. He felt shy, but then he remembered Mr. Owl’s advice. Benny took a deep breath, smiled wide, and said, “Hi, I’m Benny! I’m new here.”

A chipmunk named Charlie grinned back. “Hi, Benny! Want to sit with us?”

Benny joined the group, and when class started, their teacher, Ms. Fox, asked for volunteers to hand out art supplies. Benny raised his paw high. “I can help!” he said.

As Benny passed out paintbrushes and paper, his classmates whispered, “Benny’s so nice!” and “He’s really helpful!” By lunchtime, Benny wasn’t nervous anymore. He played tag with Charlie and the others, laughing all the way.

When Benny got home, Mama Bear asked, “How was your first day?”

Benny beamed. “Great! I smiled, helped out, and made lots of friends.”

Mama Bear nodded proudly. “See? A good first impression is like planting a seed.”

Benny grinned. “And today, I planted a whole garden of friends!”

From then on, Benny always remembered that a smile, kind words, and a helpful paw could make any first day—and every new adventure—something to celebrate.

**Chapter 29: Dove’s Kindness Adventure (be kind and have empathy)**

In the heart of a magical forest, where trees whispered secrets to the wind, there lived a curious dove named Daisy. Daisy wasn’t just any dove—her feathers sparkled faintly in the sunlight, as if carrying a secret magic of their own. Daisy cared about and loved helping others, but one day, she learned that being kind and having empathy wasn’t always simple.

One sunny morning, Daisy flew to the Sparkling Stream to meet her friend, Ruby the squirrel. They made plans a long time ago to have lunch together.

Ruby was in charge of gathering acorns for the Forest Festival. But when Daisy arrived, the acorns weren’t ready, and Ruby looked worried.

“Oh no, Ruby,” Daisy cooed, “What happened?”

“I… I got distracted playing hide-and-seek with the bunnies,” Ruby admitted, her tail drooping. “Now I’ll never finish in time and we don't have time for lunch!”

Daisy thought for a moment. She didn’t want Ruby to feel bad, but she also knew the acorns were important and so was having lunch with her friend. “Hmm,” Daisy said, her feathers ruffling thoughtfully. “Let’s figure this out together.”

With a flutter, Daisy came up with a plan. “You gather acorns from the north side, and I’ll gather from the south. We’ll finish faster if we work as a team!”

Ruby’s eyes brightened. “Really? You’d help me after I messed up?”

“Of course!” Daisy chirped. “But next time, let’s set some time for fun after we finish our jobs, okay? The Festival needs us to be ready.”

As they worked, Daisy kept Ruby’s spirits high with a little rhyme:

“Gather the nuts, one by one,
Working together is so much fun!”

Soon, they had all the acorns they needed. They even had time for a short lunch and laughed while each other told stories and jokes.

Afterwards, the forest animals cheered as Ruby and Daisy brought their bundles to the Festival.

That evening, under the glow of the moon, Ruby whispered, “Thanks for helping me, Daisy. You were kind… but you also reminded me to stay responsible. I’ll do better next time.”

Daisy smiled. “Kindness and empathy isn’t about letting things slide. It’s about understanding and helping each other grow. And you grew today, Ruby!”

From that day on, Daisy became known as the wisest dove in the forest. Whenever animals had a tough moment, they remembered Daisy’s advice: “Be kind to others and tough on problems. Have empathy. That’s how we all shine.”

And so, the forest thrived—not just on kindness and empathy, but on courage and teamwork too.

**Chapter 30: Maddy and the Mountain of More (abundance mindset)**

In the town of Sunnyvale, a curious girl named Maddy loved collecting stories. She believed every person, every place, and every moment had something wonderful to share. One bright morning, Maddy heard the villagers talking about a mysterious mountain called “The Mountain of More.”

“Legend says it’s full of treasures,” said Mr. Puddle, the baker. “But only those who believe there’s enough for everyone can find them.”

Maddy’s eyes sparkled. “Enough for everyone?” she asked. “That sounds amazing! I’ll climb the mountain and see for myself.”

Her best friend, Benny the bunny, twitched his nose. “Be careful, Maddy. What if someone else takes all the treasures before you get there?”

Maddy thought for a moment and smiled. “What if the treasures are endless? What if there’s enough for me, you, and everyone in Sunnyvale?”

Benny looked doubtful, but Maddy tied her boots, grabbed her backpack, and set off toward the mountain.

**The Climb Begins**

As Maddy climbed, she met a squirrel named Sally, carrying an acorn almost as big as her head. “Why are you climbing the mountain?” Sally asked.

“To see the treasures,” Maddy said. “Why don’t you come with me?”

Sally hesitated. “What if there’s not enough for both of us?”

Maddy laughed. “What if there’s so much we could share it with everyone?”

Sally’s eyes widened. “I never thought of it that way.” She scampered up the path alongside Maddy.

**The Magic of Giving**

Further up, the pair met a grumpy crow named Charlie. “Don’t bother,” Charlie cawed. “I’ve been here before. It’s not worth it. The mountain only has little trinkets, and everyone fights over them.”

Maddy tilted her head. “What if we didn’t fight? What if we shared everything we found?”

Charlie blinked. “Share? Why would anyone do that?”

“Because when you share,” Maddy explained, “you don’t lose anything. You gain friendships and happiness.”

Charlie wasn’t sure, but he followed anyway, curious to see if Maddy was right.

As they reached the top, the mountain began to hum softly. A golden light shimmered around them, and treasures of all kinds appeared—glistening gems, sparkling fruits, and glowing flowers. But the most magical part? No matter how much Maddy, Sally, and Charlie gathered, the treasures never ran out.

“It’s true!” Sally exclaimed. “There really is enough for everyone!”

Charlie, who had taken a glowing flower, smiled for the first time. “I guess sharing isn’t so bad.”

Maddy nodded. “This is what an abundance mindset means. It’s believing there’s always enough to go around—enough kindness, enough joy, enough opportunities for everyone.”

**The Lesson of the Mountain**

When the three friends returned to Sunnyvale, they didn’t keep the treasures to themselves. They gave them to the villagers, who used the glowing flowers to light their homes, the sparkling fruits to feed their families, and the gems to decorate the town.

“See?” Maddy said to Benny, who was now hopping excitedly. “When we believe there’s enough for everyone, amazing things happen.”

From that day on, Sunnyvale became a town of abundance. The villagers learned to celebrate each other’s successes, share what they had, and see challenges as chances to grow.

And Maddy? She kept climbing new mountains, spreading the magic of “more” wherever she went.
